Front Deck Lid Seals

Both pieces of foam that seal the front deck lid to the radiator and spare tire tub were gone.  They probably had fallen apart with age.  The one for the radiator helps keep the engine cool as forces the air from driving and the fans through the radiator.  The one for the spare tire helps prevent water from splashing into the tub.  Here's what they look like after being in a car for a while.

I got the radiator one from McCann and ended up ordering the wrong part the first time.  The parts book shows the piece, but it doesn't have a reference pointing to it.  So I presumed that it was the same piece as the one below the radiator.  Wrong choice.  It turns out that the part number is in the list as #24, but there was no 24 on the diagram.  An exchange got me the right part.  The foam for the tub was ordered from Ferrari UK as McCann didn't have it.

The radiator piece was a self-stick and the only question was which way the slanted part went, toward the front or back of the car.  Lowell Brown took a look on his QV and told me that it faces the rear.  You can see it already mounted in this picture and where the tire tub foam used to be attached.

The piece for the spare tire tub requires mounting with contact cement or some weather-strip adhesive.  It also curves at each end so I marked the center points to get it aligned properly.  Once I was satisfied that it would fit well by doing a little trimming, I glued both sides and pressed it in place.

One thing that is really different between the 308 and 330 is the trunk space (or lack thereof).  My wife was looking at the space around the spare tire and ended up making a long zippered case to fit there.  Not quite Schedoni quality, but a whole lot cheaper for a fitted item.  BTW, the fitted luggage can be ordered through the Ferrari Owner's website for a mere €3,800 (095870237).

We're not quite sure what we will use it for, but it'll hold several small soft items easily.
