Kerry's 308 GTS Project

Heritage Certificate

One of the nice touches available from the Ferrari Owner's Site was a heritage certificate.  On the 308, there are only two serial numbers to find, one for the engine and the other for the transaxle.

I put the 308 on the lift (after having to jack up each side to allow the lift arms to get under the car) and proceeded to look around for the transaxle number.  I had already found the engine number in between the V towards the right end.

I couldn't find anything on the transaxle, but the right end was pretty oily and dirty.  A can or two of brake cleaner stripped off most of the gunk and suddenly, there was the serial number.  It's on the extension for the right rear motor mount.

With these two numbers (and the car serial number of course), it was just a few minutes work to apply for the certificate.  One thing nice is that the engine and transaxle types are in the same place as the serial numbers.
