Kerry's 250 GT Pininfarina Coupe Restoration (1643GT)
Just like on Tom Yang's 330 America, both of the switches (overdrive lockout and reverse light) on the transmission were missing the protective caps. Actually, one had some cardboard and lots of old electrical tape as the solution from some previous mechanic.
Since Tom had a nicer solution, I just copied what he did. I took some scrap aluminum, cut a circle about the right diameter and then made it convex using an autobody leather sandbag and beating mallet. Then I used a small suction cup in the center so I could spin it against a disk sander to round it out and trim it down to size. The final few thousandths were done with a file. I put a little amount of silicone rubber in the recessed groove to make sure the cap would stay on and to help keep it watertight. Here you can see the caps partially finished and the final product.
Just a simple thing to do, but they all take time.
