Wheel Stampings

The wheels on the car (except the spare) had been rebuilt when I got it.  I'll have to do some of it again as the chrome center is flaking off.  But the other problem was that whoever polished the aluminum rims polished off the Borrani stampings.  Because the spare had not been rebuilt, I knew what they should look like.

I was able to borrow a set of the proper stamps.  As you can see, there are several stamps involved:

C. BORRANI - Manufacturer
5½X400 - Wheel size
RECORD RW 3598 - Wheel model

Here's how they looked before:

As you can see, there's no trace of the original stampings.  Here's the finished product:

One wheel did have a little of the stamping left on it, so I just filled in the missing parts:

One issue I had was that the 4 stamp I had didn't match the original.  The vertical portion should go clear to the top.  By over striking with the I stamp, I was able to make the 4 look correct.

I was going to make a jig to everything lined up, but after looking at the original, I realized that it was just hand stamped anyway.  So my misalignments make it look correct.
