Kerry's 250 GT Pininfarina Coupe Restoration (1643GT)
When I was going through the various parts to the car, I came across a panel that I didn't know where it fit.
It turns out that it fits into the LH side wheel well in the trunk. In inspecting that area, I noticed that there is a support that had been squished down. So I started by raising that up and positioning it correctly.
Then I cut two new panels, one a mirror image for the RH side. As you can see, I also stamped the Pininfarina body number in them as would have been done at the factory.
Then when fitting the left side, I noticed an extra screw hole in the original. Upon further inspection, I found a place where a second support was missing. Both supports were missing on the right side since the wheel well floor had been replaced, probably due to rusting out. PF Coupes have a boxed in area for the fuel filler where the water can collect and sit. When that box eventually rusts through, the water then drains into the right wheel well and rusts out the floor area.
So I ended up making three support brackets out of some mild steel. Since these are screwed to the panels, I may not bother to weld them into place unless they end up rattling.
Not a big project, but it still took half of a day to complete.
