Kerry's 308 GTS Project

Top Seal

After the thorough soaking we got in the torrential rainstorm a couple of years ago, I ordered a new door and top seal.  This is a one piece seal that goes from the bottom of the door, up by the hinge, up the A pillar, across the top and down the other side.  It installs with the usual running clips that fit onto the door jamb flange.

When I took off the old seal, I had to remove quite a bit of silicon rubber that must have been added to try and keep the water out.  The later models of the 308 are better designed in this area, but I'm hopeful that the new seal will help.  The only thing I did was to run a small bead of silicone seal in the groove where the clips are.

I already has the A pillar covers and the top cover off for the radar detector wiring.  It's probably possible to install a new seal without removing them but you run the risk of damaging the seal or the covers trying to fit the seal between the flange and cover.  Here's the final installation.
