Kerry's 330 GT Restoration

Breather Tube

I noticed that my crankcase breather tube had cracked down at the bottom.

A few years ago, I bought a couple from Mike Dunn, thinking that I needed them on the PF coupe.  That engine doesn't use them, but I'm glad I did.  Mike has passed away and though the business was sold before, the new ownership has allowed it to die.

Mike's tubes are exactly right and even have little Pirelli stamps on the side.  Since I had to remove the vent assembly to work on the alternator, it was a good opportunity to replace the broken tube.

Now I just need a few hundred miles of crankcase fumes to age it properly.

Note, most 330 GT engine have two breathers.  Mine, a fairly late series 2 only has one.  And cars with power steering have none as they have vents built into the valve covers with the fumes vented into the air cleaner, much like a modern car.
