Citroen Club Spring 2013 Drive

Early March in Seattle is pretty iffy for the weather.  However, the local Citroen club goes on their spring drive rain or shine.

This year they were in luck as the weather system was being split by the Olympic mountains, with north and south of Seattle getting the rain while the rain shadow left us in fine weather with some sun breaks.

Last year (the first), there were only 5 or 6 cars.  This year, with the weather cooperating, 24 cars showed up.  Since all of the European car clubs were invited, there was an eclectic mix, including several Citroens, a couple of Porches, a VW (1972, not modern), three Ferraris, a Panhard, several MGBs, a Healy, a Saab and even a Lada.

I believe the oldest car there was a 1954 Citroen Traction Avant (type 11CL6).  I followed it for the first half of the drive.  Except for a slipping clutch on the hills, it performed well, cornering quickly and without much lean.

The Lada was interesting.  How can one make a worse Fiat than Fiat?  -  Have it made in (then) an Eastern European country!

If you look carefully, the badge in the rear says 1300 while the one on the side says 1500!

The mix of Ferraris was interesting too, a 246 GT Dino, my 330 GT and a 348TS, nothing modern.

The break was at a local park where everybody was glad to stretch their legs.  One thing I noticed was the ages of the enthusiasts, most of us had gray hair (when present)

Here are pictures of some of the other cars.

The end was lunch at the Sun Break Cafe in Auburn.  I had never been there, but will have to go back for another Sunday brunch.  You don't go away hungry with the size of the omelets.

In all, a very pleasant drive with interesting company.  It was a good day to get the 330 out of the shop as it hasn't moved since last October.
