Oil Filler Mesh

There has been a recent thread on Tom Yang's message board about the oil filler cap.  It seems that there is supposed to be a metal mesh inside of it, above the perforated metal screen.

I took mine apart and not surprising, there isn't any mesh in there. 

I understand that originally, Ferrari used a steel wool like material that would eventually rust out.  The modern replacement is a stainless steel scrubbing pad.  I looked at a couple of stores trying to find the Chore Boy brand.  I found it in copper, but not in stainless steel.  Then I stopped at an Albertson's food store (West coast chain) and bought the Evercare kind.  This is even better than the Chore Boy as it is made in loops with a center hole that can be expanded to fit over the center of the filler cap.  I had to cut the pad into two pieces as it was too thick to fit into the cap.  Here's the packaging and what it looks like installed.

Now there should be fewer drips of oil out the bottom of the vent hose.
