Kerry's 330 GT Restoration
I spent some time (actually several hours) entering all of the cost for parts, machining, etc. that I've spent over the last 24+ years restoring my 330 GT. I've been afraid to do this before as I thought that I might have a very expensive 330 GT.
Actually, the total isn't too bad at $43,138.48, including the purchase. Broken out by systems:
A/C |
|
|
Brakes |
|
|
Differential | 192.92 | |
Electric | 4088.32 | |
Engine | 7927.50 | |
Exterior | 5375.54 | |
Fuel | 714.51 | |
Interior | 2437.42 | |
Owner's Pouch | 1563.42 | |
Miscellaneous | 1016.18 | |
Purchase | 10483.38 | |
Steering | 184.09 | |
Suspension | 2819.32 | |
ToolKit | 3405.66 | |
Transmission | 8.00 |
One has to remember that over half of the costs were incurred in the early 80s, when parts were much more available and less expensive. There is several hundred dollars in wrong or incorrect parts that I couldn't return. In addition, the over 5K for manuals and toolkit items were an optional expenditure. So if you discount those, the car is still just under $40,000, well below the market value. Of course, I haven't valued the countless hours of my time, but that's fun, right!
One item that amazed me was the $1016.18 I've spent on hardware (nuts, bolts, etc.). Every time you stop and pick a few of this and that, all adds up in the end. This cost is the majority of the miscellaneous section as I usually couldn't remember what I was working on for each receipt.
I've spent about $11,000 in the last two years with the bulk of that in the A/C, Owner's Pouch and Toolkit areas.
