Kerry's 330 GT Restoration
There are always a few special screws and bolts in an older Ferrari.
One pair of screws are the ones that hold the trunk slide to the body and trunk lid. They are 5mm truss head screws with a shoulder that allows the slide to rotate as needed. You can see the one original I had on the right.
Of course, one can't find any screws such as these, but I was able to find some 5mm large cheese head screws with a slot rather than for a Philips screwdriver. From there, I ground down the diameter to 15mm and then rounded the head into the truss shape. Then I needed to widen the screwdriver slot. I ended up using a Dremel with a cutting wheel mounted into a vise on the drill press. Then with the screw held by the chuck and the drill press off, I was able to adjust the vise to let me move the Dremel under the screw to widen the slot in a controlled fashion.
Then I had to sand the top to remove the grinding marks and make a washer to act like the shoulder. A little JB Weld bonded the washer to the screw. The last thing to do was to dip it in black oxide for the finish.
