Kerry's 250 GT Pininfarina Coupe Restoration (1643GT)

Dennison Visit 1/10/19

All of my parts bins had been emptied and the parts stored, so I went down to pick them up.  They fit into the CR-V, but not a lot of room left over.

There was a long list of questions about the car, parts and what is correct on my particular model.  I answered them the best I could, but some will require more research.  An example is the turn signal stalk.  On an earlier PF cab, they had found that the stalk had a CEAM stamp on it, so were wondering if it should be on my car.  My stalk did not have the stamp and in checking with a friend's series II couple, his didn't either.  So we will just use my existing stalk rather than removing the chrome, stamping and then re-chroming it.  There was a sheet metal part that came with the car when I bought it.  I always thought that it was part of the spare tire cover, but that is complete and this didn't seem to fit anywhere else.

Another of the questions was where the various heat shields went on the car.  We figured them out by trial and error.

I supplied Dennison with thousands of pictures of PF coupes that I have accumulated over the years.  So pictures like this one from SN 2017, a multiple platinum winning car, can be helpful in determining what is correct for a given instance.  This shows how the dash is laid out, where the various gauges mount and what portions are painted body color.

There were some extra holes in the rear area.  Since they were also in the leatherette covering, we decided that they were probably add-on seat belt mounting holes.  I will want retractable shoulder harnesses similar to what I put in my 330, so these holes will be welded up.

A visit to Dennison is always interesting, simply in the breadth and models of cars that are there.
