Kerry's 250 GT Pininfarina Coupe Restoration (1643GT)

February 2019

More work on the engine, getting it assembled for the dynameter.  The valve covers need to be stripped and new wrinkle paint put on.  They don't like the finish on the wrinkle paint that I did.  Not quite wrinkly enough.  After seeing an oil filter show up on the bill, I took down several as I have them sitting on shelf.  So once the engine is ready for it's first oil change (~1000 km), I'll put on the ones that have been stripped and painted with the proper period Fram markings.  They didn't like any of the silver painted surfaces (front cover, chain covers, etc.) that I painted.  Not surprising in that I used some silver paint that my Dad had around.  So they all got stripped and re-painted.  Here it is on the dynameter.

The seat frames were cleaned, painted, re-assembled and delivered to the upholstery shop, along with the foam and leather parts.  All of the chrome parts were re-chromed.  Those were some of the parts I never took apart to have re-chromed.  There were 30 seat parts that needed to be chromed ($1430 worth).

The car body (on rollers) was delivered to the blast people for stripping of the paint and filler.

The gas tank was pressure tested and some pin-holes were silver soldered up.  Then the tank was painted.

The steering box was disassembled, painted and put back together with all new bearings and seals, along with a new aluminum plate.
