Kerry's 250 GT Pininfarina Coupe Restoration (1643GT)
About 170 hours of work in January.
The car is now on a rotisserie to make access to the underside easier. This also allows for better removal of the media used to strip the outside, though even after several rotations, lots of sand is still around. There are straps to make sure it doesn't drop if a weld or bolt gives.
The brake hard lines were completed.
Work was started on the sunroof by straightening the interior trim ring. All of the parts were pulled from storage and cleaned or stripped for painting. Assembled the tray, guides and sunroof in the car. Fit spacers so the sunroof slides and seals properly. Time consuming process with lots of disassembly and reassembly. Here it is in the car (which is upside down).
The hood and trunk lid was fit and aligned to the car to get the reveals and height right. Trunk rubber was temporarily installed to adjust the latches and hinges.
All of the outriggers were rusty and needed various repairs from a whole new piece to just new metal on the bottom.
One of the badly rusted front tubes was replaced.
The wheel swap hit a snag. TomS' customer does not want to trade with me so each of us has the correct wheels for our cars. So TomS has located five 3526 wheels, two he has and three he can obtain. He'll pick up the three and get all five sent off to the rebuilder.
However, as he was packing them, he noticed that one he picked up was not a 3526. So only four got sent off and I still need another 3526 wheel. If one can't be located, Tom says that he has a drum brake rim and disk brake hub that can be rebuilt into a 3526.
