Kerry's 250 GT Pininfarina Coupe Restoration (1643GT)
Most of the work in May was at the paint shop. Only 55 hours of work at Dennison.
The brake proportioning valve was assembled. This is a valve in the front brake circuit designed to apply more pressure to the front brakes to better balance the front to rear braking. I had delivered this valve all apart, but with a wire through the pieces to keep them in the right order.
Some of the time was spent showing the paint staff how the sunroof mounts and works. At the paint shop, the external parts (doors, trunk lid, lights, trim, etc.) were fit to the car so everything aligns as the filler is applied.
The trunk lid had to have some welding done so it fit the body better once the paint shop had worked in that area.
Lots of work on the bumpers to get them to conform to the body.
Once the bumpers are fit to the car, the copper plating is block sanded do make it smooth. Any high places are filed and sanded smooth. Then it's back to the platers for more copper to fill in any low spots and cover any places where the steel was showing from a high spot. Repeat as necessary until it's perfect.
