Dennison Visit 4/24/21

I had a dental appointment that was about 1/3 of the way to Dennison, so afterwards I went on down for a visit.

They've emptied all of the cabinets containing my parts onto a couple of rolling shelf units.  The extra parts they were not used have been boxed up for me to take home.  Eventually, I'll get them listed for anybody that needs and wants to buy any.  These include such things as the rear reflectors.  The car didn't have any when I bought it, but I found a couple that I though were right.  However Butch said that they didn't fit quite right and got some that were correct leaving me with the others.

One thing they asked me about was the ignition key.  I knew that it was one of the four that was on a ring when they picked up the car.  They had the other three keys but claimed to not have the ignition one.  I looked on the carts and found the key.  It doesn't look like an ignition key and they thought it was a cabinet key that had been mislaid.  Butch and got to talking about keys and locks.  I mentioned that I had made keys to several older Ferraris and Butch was interested.  He has been doing that for the customer keys, bur really doesn't like it.  So I think that he'll sub out any key/lock work to me in the future.  I mentioned that I would be sending an invoice for my having to fit the key to the ignition and my minimum billing is one hour.  I said that I would forgo the trip charge since I was there already!

While I was there the interior guys came over to fit the package shelf under the rear window.  It took some extra work to have it look good under the window.  Then they fit the luggage back piece in.

The interior of the sunroof is completely installed.  There are a couple of wiring items to finish and then the trim under the headliner and pillar coverings can be installed.

The carpet has been trimmed and installed.

The heater box and fan have been installed and wired up.

The door panels are done can't be installed until I can get back down with the seats and steering wheel installed in order to determine where I want the side mirrors installed.  The car also will go back on the rolling dynameter to make final adjustments to the carburetor tuning.

This was on a Monday, so I asked Butch if it would be ready to be picked up on Friday.  He said yes, but also didn't say which Friday.  He talked about getting 50 miles or so on it to make sure that there weren't any DOA (dead on arrival) issues.  There is a local track, Pacific Raceways, about 20 miles away that has a drag strip.  He says that the whole crew will take the car over on a Friday or Saturday night and that it takes quite a few runs at a quarter mile each to put 50 miles on the car.
