Kerry's 250 GT Pininfarina Coupe Restoration (1643GT)
The chrome surrounds on the interior lights needed to be re-done, so I took them apart. It turns out that the plastic lenses are held in by clips that are soldered to the chrome surround.
So I unsoldered the clips on one side and was able to remove the lenses leaving the other clip on the surround. When the newly chromed surrounds came back, evidently one of the clips had come loose in the plating process as both were gone on one surround. The first step was to grind away the chrome, nickel and copper layers so the solder had something to adhere to.
I made a new clip from some steel shim stock that I had and re-soldered the clips in place holding the plastic lenses. One has to be careful not to melt the plastic.
When I went to put the surrounds on the bases, I realized that I had solder too far up the sides in a couple of places, so had to redo those clips. In the end, everything fit together.
BTW, a normal PF coupe has a round single interior light mounted in the center of the roof area. But since my car has a sun roof, Pininfarina mounted two lights, one on each side near the B pillar.
