Oil Sump

Installing the oil sump is pretty straight forward.  There is a half O-ring at the rear that seals the sump to the bell housing.  The O-ring fits into a groove and I used just a smear of silicone rubber to make sure there was a good seal.  There were a couple of studs missing.  I had a couple made up, assuming that they were identical to those on the bell housing, 8mm x 1.25mm on one end and 1.0mm on the other.  It turned out that both ends were fine thread (1.0mm) as there were brass inserts in the block.  So I ended up with a trip to Ace Hardware where I found a couple of 8x1.0mm bolts fully threaded that were long enough to make the proper studs out of them.  There was one of the pan studs missing, but it turned up in a box with a bunch of miscellaneous hardware so I just had to install it.

The only issue I had was that the sump had been dropped at some point and one side was bent in slightly.  This necessitated elongating a couple of the bolt holes for alignment.

Note, the red you see is the spray tack I use on the gaskets, not a gasket maker product.  Here is the sump installed.
