CCCA Father's Day 2016

The Classic Car Club of America invited the Ferrari Club to join them for a drive and show at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks in Ballard, WA.

It was a very pleasant venue as we were parked on one of the wide paths under some shady trees.  The weather was perfect in the low 70s and it's always fun to watch both the good and inept boaters lock through from Puget Sound into Lake Union.  In addition, there is a set of fish ladders to allow the salmon to migrate back upstream from the ocean.

Only a couple of Ferraris came, but there were some true classics there.

My daughters came by and took me to lunch for Father's Day.

The only down side was that the brakes were iffy on the way to the locks and very iffy on the way home.  The master cylinder seals for the front brakes of the dual system decided to no longer work.  So braking didn't start until about ¾ of the stroke down and then was heavy and not very effective in stopping the car.  So I drove in first and second gear through the city, leaving lots of stopping distance between my car and the one ahead.  I did make it home without crashing.  The next day, I talked to Jeff at Karp's Power Brakes and sent the master cylinder down to him overnight.  Now I'm just waiting for UPS to deliver it back so I can get the 330 back on the road.

UPS delivered the rebuilt master cylinder, so I got it installed and bled the brakes.  You have to remove the wheels to access the bleed screw.  My knock-off socket needed some modifications and after fixing it, knock-off removal is easy for one person.  It's nice to have brakes again.
