Kerry's 330 GT Restoration

Italian Car Show, Vancouver, BC

Last weekend was an Italian car show up in Canada.  The NW region of the FCA was invited, so several cars from here went up.  About 15 Ferraris met at a local shopping center on Saturday morning and proceeded to Vancouver via some back roads.

Joanne and I went in the 330.  At the last break before lunch, we split off as we were spending the night at our place in Whistler and not staying in Vancouver with the rest of the group.  During the morning drive, a couple of people behind us mentioned that the right brake light wasn't working.  So I changed the bulb and all seemed Ok.

On the way to Whistler I looked down and noticed that the speedometer (and odometer) were no longer working.  Oh well, let's see.  Redline in 5th is at 6600 RPM at 152 MPH.  So 3300 RPM should be about 75 and 2200 RPM would be 50 MPH.  The road to Whistler is marked at 80 KPH (~50 MPH) for most of it.  I kept the tach more towards the 3300 number when the traffic allowed.

Then the windshield wipers stopped in mid-stroke.  Luckily it wasn't raining too hard so we just kept on going.  Hopefully the motor isn't burned out because the last time I had it repaired, the shop used the last armature that they had.

In Whistler, Joanne noticed that the right brake light was dimmer than the left.  It turns out that the problem is a grounding issue rather than a burned out bulb.  I'll write more on that when I fix it permanently.  For now, I just put a washer under the plastic cover inside the trunk so the housing has a better contact with the car body.

We drove back down to North Vancouver Sunday morning to attend the show at Waterfront Park.  The road was dry now and there was little traffic going our way.  So I was able to enjoy the road driving the Ferrari the way they are designed to be driven.

The contingent of 19 Ferraris from the states were joined by 12 from BC for a total of 31.  The Alfa club (sponsors of the show) had about 40 cars with a few Panteras, Fiats, Maseratis mixed in along with Italian motorcycles and bicycles.

Then parked down on the street was a 30s? Aston Martin race car.  Not many people noticed it, but here are a couple of pictures.

It was a nice weekend outing, but now I have some more things to fix.
