Kerry's 330 GT Restoration

Shop Tree Removal

First, we have to remove five trees that are in the way.  A couple are firs over 2' in diameter and 100' tall, so those will be non-trivial.  One large pine leans over the existing building quite a bit, so it will start the demolition when it is dropped.  The site preparation crew will start May 20 to demolish the old building and grade for the new one.  The building construction should start about June 3 and be complete in 2 weeks.  Then I'll order the lift and by the time it arrives, the concrete will have cured enough to support it.  So by the middle of July, I hope to be able to never have to crawl under a car again to work on it!

April 26: The trees came down today.

Here's the climber limbing his way up one of the firs Ready to drop the top

After he limbed up the lower 50' or so, he dropped the top 40' in one piece.  To see a short video of that, click here.

The real interesting tree was the pine overhanging the existing structure.  As the trees are being removed a couple of weeks before demolition, we couldn't drop it on the building.  Here you can see the lean.

It's the tree just to the left of center with the red tape around it and the split top.

The climber is trying to figure out exactly how to take off the second top.  The first top was nicely dropped to the outside on the ground, but this one really overhangs the building.  To see how he did it, click here.

The next step was the demolition of the existing shop/garage.
