Kerry's 250 GT Pininfarina Coupe Restoration (1643GT)

August 5, 2020

The car is now Rosso Bordeaux.

I haven't been down to see it, but sometime next week.

I stopped by on the way down to Dennison's on 8/12.  They have had the car and parts outside in the sun to bake out some of the volatiles.

Right now, they are wet sanding out all of the orange peel, dust nibs, etc., starting with 600 grit, then 1000, finishing with 2000.  After the 600 is done and the surface is open, they'll put everything out in the sun again to remove more of the volatiles.  Here are the sunroof and trunk lid.

They haven't started on the rest of the car yet.

Once the sanding is done, then buffing and polishing will bring the paint back to a mirror finish.

Finally, they will reverse mask the outside color and paint the engine compartment, interior, trunk and hood undersides and chassis with the appropriate black paints.  Then the car will go back to Dennison for assembly.
